Favourite films for International Men’s DayBack

Today we’re celebrating International Men’s Day – a new date on the UK’s calendar which lends it support to all things men.

For the purpose of this special celebratory day, Trusted Dealers takes a look below at some of the most famous films enjoyed and celebrated by men across the globe (and some famous cars too).

StarWarsStar Wars

Okay there are no traditional cars in this epic catalogue of films, but with the release of the latest Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, we felt we just had to include it in our list! However, the BARC speeder, which appears in Revenge of the Sith and is a playable vehicle in Star Wars: Battlefront, Battlefront II and Star Wars Galaxies is definitely worth a mention. The BARC speeder gave a single clone trooper increased operational range, great speed and increased mobility in order to perform cavalry, scouting and mounted infantry roles – not bad for what is essentially a bike.

DeLoreanBack to the Future

Back to the Future is another popular trilogy of films that appeals to men all over the world – the idea that we can go back in time or travel to the future is such as fascinating concept that many men can’t help getting carried away with the idea that the DeLorean along with the Flux Capacitor is “what makes time travel possible”. Certainly, the makers of the infamous trilogy knew what they were doing when they invented cars that could fly – okay we might not quite be there yet but there is real hope for the future when we consider the progress of driverless cars.

FerrisBFerris Bueller’s Day Off

Another film that some men still think is the best film ever made is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It’s not difficult to see why this film appeals to men all over the globe – the lead character not only spectacularly skives off school, he gets to drive his friend’s dad’s prized 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder convertible – hardly a normal day at the office.

The Godfather

The Godfather remainGodfathers one of the most epic and celebrated movies of all time. Based on the novel by Mario Puzo, the film does an excellent job of bring the characters to life – in particular Marlon Brando’s memorable performance as Don Vito Corleone, an Italian mobster from the 1970s. If you’re a car-fan, this movie features a
number of classic cars to remember such as the 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special and the 1941 Lincoln Continental featured in the famous scene where Sonny is executed – an absolute must for all male movie lovers and a true classic that never gets old.

RockyCarRocky

Last but not least is Rocky, a lesson in the American dream for every male out there on the planet. Written by, and starring Sylvester Stallone, the film is set in the streets of Philadelphia and tells the story of Rocky Balboa, a poor debt collector trying to live the American dream. The appeal of this film is the classic rise from rags to riches – it’s a true underdog story whereby those who are dealt a bad hand in life, prove they can come up triumphant and achieve greatness, which is what gives this film so much manly appeal! Look out for a collection of classic 1980s cars throughout the four classic films, such as the famous Nissan 300ZX in Rocky IV or the 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in Rocky II.
