New 4×4 cars for 2016Back

It’s that time of year when motorists start thinking about buying a 4×4 car. The weather is at its worst, and climbing aboard a large, safe 4×4 can make life just that little bit easier.

There are some excellent 4×4 cars currently for sale from Trusted Dealers, but if you can wait a few months, we’ve chosen three of the hottest 4×4 cars to hit the market in 2015/16. Take a look below at Trusted Dealers top picks.

Jaguar FPaceJaguar F-Pace: Prices start from £34,710

The Jaguar F-Pace has been a long time coming. In fact, it’s the first time Jaguar has entered into the SUV market, or any market that isn’t a coupe, convertible or luxury saloon. For those Jaguar fans, we can reveal the F-Pace is set to hit the UK showrooms in April this year, so not much longer to wait! The F-Pace is designed to stand out from the crowd in true Jaguar style. Heavily influenced by the Jaguar F-Type sports car, the new F-Pace will feature a gaping grille, sleek headlights and F-Type-style tail-lamps , it also sports a typical Jaguar style interior. Some of the luxury features buyers can enjoy include Apple Watch connectivity, remote heating and a built-in-Wi-Fi hotspot. Engines available with the new Jaguar F-Pace include a 2.0-litre diesel, which we predict will be favoured by company car owners and those looking for a more frugal car (57.7mpg), a powerful V6 diesel and a range-topping 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol. The F-Pace will be available with either rear or four-wheel drive and will compete against rivals such as the Volvo XC60, the Porsche Macan and the BMW X3, although it will be larger and more luxurious than all three, which puts it ahead of competitors when it comes to its keen pricing. To ensure the F-Pace doesn’t compete with off-road models from sister brand Land Rover, the car will be more focused on road handling and driving pleasure than off-road capability. The Jaguar F-Pace First Edition is available to order now, with deliveries expected in early to mid-2016.

SEAT20V20SEAT 20V20: Expected price: £22,000

The all-new mid-size 4×4 car set to take on the highly popular Nissan Qashqai and the Honda CR-V is the new highly anticipated SEAT 20V20 SUV, due in showrooms later this year. The new SUV will be smaller than the 20V20 concept model first viewed at the Geneva Motor Show last year but it will carry many of the design features such as the X-shaped nose, sleek headlamps and LED tail-lights. The new SUV will also share some of its engine line-up with the popular VW Tiguan such as the 2.0-litre diesel and the 1.4-litre turbo petrol. SEAT describe the 20V20 as a four-door sports coupe offering excellent refinement and the versatility of an SUV. The up market interior looks solid and well made using leather, aluminium, glass and high-gloss trims, and there is a generous amount of space for occupants in the light and airy cabin. Furthermore, the boot offers a generous 600 litres of space so there’s plenty of room for luggage. Available with a choice of 2 powerful TSI engines with 240 PS or 300 PS, there is also a hint that a plug-in hybrid or electric only car maybe made available in the not too distant future. Watch this space for further details.

MitsubishiPHEVMitsubish Outlander PHEV: Available from  £29,249

The new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVwas actually released in October 2015 but we felt it was well worth a mention! The PHEV is no stranger to the UK roads, originally released two years ago as a plug-in hybrid model, it has now received a facelift to include an 8% overall efficiency boost. Mitsubishi has found the perfect solution for its previous slump in car sales by producing an SUV which is also a plug-in hybrid and therefore eligible for the government’s £5000 subsidy to buyers of electric cars. Furthermore, the PHEV’s impressive fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures means it’s also eligible for a BIK tax rate of just 5% and is therefore an attractive option for company car drivers – a major saving on rivals such as the BMW X3 and Honda CR-V. The latest Outlander PHEV benefits from fuel economy as high as 156mpg and 40g/km CO2 emissions making it exempt from road tax. Styled using the ‘Dynamic Shield’ concept and inspired by the XR PHEV II conceot it sports a new stylish look with new bumpers, grille and halogen headlights. The new model also comes with improved structural rigidity and redesigned suspension to help its on-road dynamics while increased sound insulation keeps noise levels down. It also comes with a 5-year warranty and a high reputation for reliability.
