Britain’s comfiest carsBack

030613 Saab 9-5There’s nothing worse than sitting down to a long car journey and feeling uncomfortable from the word go – that’s why so many of us are keen to invest in a car that not only looks stylish, but can also provide a good level of comfort.

Finding a comfortable car involves relying on other people’s reviews, after all, it is the owners of cars that rate them, those people who drive their cars everyday and therefore know exactly how comfortable they really are – despite what a salesman might tell you.

Most people would expect luxury cars to be at the top of the scoreboard, but it is actually 4x4s that have taken up three out of the top five most comfortable cars according to a recent survey conducted by Which?

Take a look below at some of the comfiest cars to hit the forecourts according to you, the owners.

Saab 9-5 (1997 – 2010)

Surprisingly it’s Saab which currently occupies the top spot for comfort according to the latest ratings by owners with many people commenting on the car’s ability to cover long distances with minimal effort. It was described by one driver as a “reliable long-distance mile-eater”, and another said that it was a great car for motorway journeys.

Volvo XC70

The Volvo XC70 has something for everyone. Not only is it classed as one of the comfiest 4×4 cars on the road it is able to combine luxury with practicality as well as off-road capability. The Volvo lives up to its name and is sturdily built, solid and easy to drive with lots of space for passengers. What particularly impressed some of its owners was its ability to handle well in all conditions as well as its all year round comfort and appeal.

Land Rover Range Rover

Few cars can match the all round appeal of a Land Rover Range Rover, as large 4×4 cars go, the Range Rover manages to capture a bit of everything – it’s the epitome of comfort, not to mention offering excellent off-road capability as well as plenty of luxury within a spacious and comfortable cabin. One of the things which drivers mentioned the most is its great driving position.

Lexus RX (2009-)

The Lexus RX has made it into the top five picks for being the most comfortable car twice – its previous model takes fourth place whilst the latest model is in fifth. People reported that they were impressed with how quiet the drive was as well as its ability to offer excellent comfort.
