Head to the BMW stand and you’ll be able to take a look at the new i8 roadster, or if you’re a company car owner, take a look at the new i3 electric car which is likely to be on sale by 2014 and promises to offer new battery and electric motor technology that will ensure this car goes further and faster. There is also a new 3-Series GT which is set to be with us in a couple of month’s time and offers a slightly raised driving seat position as well as more space for luggage than the current 3-series saloon.
At the Honda stand you can take a look at the new Honda Civic Tourer which offers a more affordable, practical and spacious car, set to go into production this year and available to buy, by the autumn. It will offer the same engine range as the hatchback model but its higher roofline will allow for extra space in the back and a better load capacity.
Similarly, the Skoda Octavia Estate is another new model to hit the showroom. Following on from the success of the Octavia hatch, the Czech firm has created an Estate model which promises to offer the same brilliant formula with prices starting from approximately £17,000. The new Octavia not only promises low running costs, but it will also sport a huge 610-litre boot which will be almost as big as the Skoda Superb wagon.
Volkswagen has revealed its new VW Golf Estate at the Geneva Motor Show which also offers a generous sized boot of 605-litres with the rear seats in use or 1620-litres when the seats are folded flat. The new Golf Estate offers a more attractive look than its predecessor as well as plenty of equipment as standard and the same excellent range of engines as the Golf Hatch. The VW Golf Estate will be on sale from July 2013 and is expected to cost around £2,000 more than a hatch.
The new Ford EcoSport SUV has just been unveiled and sports Ford’s latest EcoBoost turbo petrol engine of 1.0-litre size as well as a new 1.5-litre turbodiesel which is also set to be part of the line-up. The EcoSport is set to go on sale in the UK towards the end of this year and it will offer a similar driving experience to the Ford Kuga.
A new saloon aimed at the executive sector has just been unveiled by Infiniti, entitled the Infiniti Q50. The new executive car will come with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine offering 167bhp and a six-speed automatic gearbox. The company has told prospective buyers to expect fuel economy of around 64mpg and less than 115g/km CO2 emissions for the new Q50 and there will also be a petrol-electric hybrid version available.
