With the cold weather taking its toll on Britain, there has never been a better time to consider investing in a 4×4 car, and there are plenty of exciting new models coming onto the market in 2013 to entice you onto the roads even in the snow.
The Trusted Dealers have been looking into some of the best off-road cars to hit the road this year, so why not take a look below at three of the best 4×4 cars coming soon.
Land Rover Range Rover Sport: Priced from approximately £50,000
The new Range Rover Sport is set to be a lighter and cleaner version of the current popular Range Rover and will be on sale in the summer. A favourite with footballers and other high profile celebrities, the Range River Sport has been given a redesign from the ground upwards and is set to benefit from weight saving principles and a range of more efficient engines which will make it a more economical 4×4 car. The aluminium construction methods which have been applied to build the new Range Rover Sport mean that it could save up to 400kg in weight, which coupled with its new V6 turbodiesel engine should lower its CO2 emissions to less than 200g/km. Other engines offered with the new four-wheel drive car include a 4.4-litre turbodiesel and a 5.0 supercharged V8 petrol engine. Like the existing Range Rover, the new Sport’s options list will offer great opportunity for bespoke models to be created.
Porsche Macan: Priced from £35,000
Introducing the Porsche Macan which is designed as a baby brother to the popular Porsche Cayenne. Marketed as a smaller version of the Porsche Cayenne the new Porsche Macan will be available to buy in winter 2013. A teaser image recently released by Porsche also suggests that it is very similar in design and layout to the Cayenne. With small SUVs very much in demand in today’s market, the Macan is set to receive a warmer welcome at its launch than its older brother originally did. Underneath the bonnet, the new Macan is based on the Audi Q5 and may use some of the SUV’s powertrains. A four-cylinder diesel engine and a hybrid are set to join the line-up later on, but at launch the original model will be powered by six-cylinder engines.
BMW X5: Priced from approximately £42,000
The new BMW X5 is the latest version of BMW’s sporty 4×4 car and is due to go on sale in autumn 2013. The next X5 is set to closely resemble the current model and will sport a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The next generation BMW X5 is set to be very similar to the current model so there will be no major surprises in its style and look, however, take a look under the bonnet and it is an entirely different story. There are likely to be substantial changes to the engine line up with a wider choice of variants available to help the BMW X5 compete against the latest Mercedes ML250, and also to significantly improve the X5’s fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures. High-performance petrol and diesel M Performance models will also be offered. Four-wheel drive is predicted to remain the same across the range, but there is no confirmation the new X5 will offer a seven-seat option yet.
