New Aston Martin Vanquish Volante images revealedBack

240613 Aston Martin Vanquish VolanteAston Martin has just revealed the first official photos of its latest new model, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, a convertible version of the popular Aston Martin V12 GT car.

Unlike the existing Aston Martin convertibles, the new Vanquish Volante has a body which is entirely made from carbon fibre which not only saves in weight but is also said to be the hardest Volante shell ever made in Aston’s Martin’s 100 year history.

The Vanquish Volante has the same 565bhp AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine as the coupe version and is capable of reaching 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 182mph. Its triple-skin fabric roof takes just 14 seconds to fold.

The boot can take up to 279 litres of luggage space whether the roof is up or down.

Dr Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin’s CEO, said: “This car is what luxury super GT driving is all about. Great performance, fantastic style and exhilarating Volante motoring in one superb package. Aston Martin is celebrating 100 years of excellence in 2013, and the arrival of this new sports car – our ultimate Volante – underlines that our mission to make the next 100 years even more successful is starting perfectly.”

Aston Martin claims the Vanquish Volante is 14 per cent torsionally stiffer than its predecessor, the DBS Volante, partly down to the carbon-fibre body, but also the lightweight bonded aluminium structure underneath, which Aston Martin calls “gen4 VH”.

The Volante features a host of electronic driver aids to include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Positive Torque Control (PTC) as well as an Adaptive Damping System (ADS) which enables the driver to switch to three different damping modes – normal, sport and track which in turn alter the car’s ride and handling to suit the way it is being driven

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s design director, said: “Vanquish Volante is a sports car, of course, but more even than that it is the ultimate Volante. A car which follows a long line of elegant Aston Martin convertibles, this super GT is sculpted to convey sophistication as much as raw power.

“The aerodynamically shaped tonneau, the proportions of the folding fabric roof, the luxurious nature of the cabin – these elements have been pored over by the design team, working with our engineering colleagues, to ensure we deliver the aesthetic appeal for which Aston Martin is renowned around the world.”

Prices start from £199,995, with delivery by the end of the year.
