Prince’s Trust Scotland and Arnold Clark help 11 local youngsters find employmentBack

180213 ArnoldClarkThinkCampaignWith youth employment high on the government agenda, Arnold Clark is pleased to announce its latest scheme offering 11 young people the chance to undertake a Prince’s Trust modern apprenticeship.

Eleven lucky students will be given the opportunity to train with the Arnold Clark Group and GTG training on a ‘Get into Cars’ programme which is based in Glasgow and from there students will be taught the integral skills that will set them up for the on-the-job training at their local Arnold Clark dealership.

Furthermore, Arnold Clark offers 98 per cent of young students full time employment upon completion of the Prince’s Trust course.

Youth unemployment has been propelled into the public eye, once again, due to controversial talks that have taken place between Angela Merkel and senior government officials, both from the UK and overseas. Merkel is insistent that the UK should take follow on from the German counterparts and stop putting an emphasis on the young people to go forth and gain higher education, and instead set our youth up for a career in practical as well as academic fields. *

The Prince’s Trust Scotland has helped more than 60,000 young people gain skills and find work since 1976, and continues to support 100 more young people every day across the UK. The Trust works with 14 to 25 year olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.

Upon completion of the six-week course with Arnold Clark and The Prince’s Trust, Scotland, the students and their families will be invited to attend a celebration event to congratulate the students on their hard work, commitment and determination.

Over the five years that Arnold Clark and GTG have involved have been involved the Prince’s Trust, 98% students have been welcomed into the Arnold Clark Group at the end. With a new job, a Prince’s Trust qualification and the chance to complete their modern apprenticeship with Arnold Clark, the partnership between the two bodies has been highly successful, it results in young people who have prosperous careers in front of them and a career path that may not have been available without the help of the Prince’s Trust and Arnold Clark.

Sir Arnold Clark said: “I am a passionate believer that safeguarding Scotland’s future rests on one thing – investment in our people. Providing them with skills, knowledge and experience they need to succeed will equip them with the necessary tools to create a successful society.”

The Prince’s Trust programme at GTG has seen many candidates pass through the programme and go onto develop prosperous and ambitious careers in their chosen fields.
