The New 13 RegBack

As we all know, March 1st marks the arrival of new registration plate – and this particular set carries the number (cue spooky music) 13. While there are some who think that the superstitions around the number might harm sales of cars carrying the 13 reg plate, most industry figures laugh off the suggestion. In interviews for Car Dealer magazine, various names express sentiments in line with those of Linda Jackson – Citroen UK’s managing director:

“I don’t believe for a moment that it will put people off buying a brand new car in March.”

If you’re in the market for a used car, March is actually a good time to buy – and this is related to the number plate change. Sales of new cars peak at new registration time, which means that many people are also trading in cars for new models.

This means if you’re in the market for a used car you should find a good selection of the most popular models coming into the market – with the chance to pick up a good bargain by shopping around. If people are trading up within 3 years of buying their last new car, then that means you can also pick up a car with a remaining manufacturer’s warranty.

Most cars at Trusted Dealers carry the balance of the manufacturer’s warranty or a minimum 3 month guarantee of their own, which is one reason that choosing a franchised dealer over a local independent dealer is a smart move if you’re a savvy buyer who cares about quality and safety.
