According to Consumer Direct, between January and September this year, more people lodged complaints about car dealers to the Fair Trading’s consumer arm than any other type of trader.
Of the 56,000 complaints reported involving used cars, 70 per cent were in relation to faults with cars, 13 per cent were about misleading claims and omissions by the seller and almost 7 per cent related to substandard services.
“We continue to receive a high number of complaints which are often due to some traders refusing to deal with legitimate complaints or provide appropriate compensation,” said Michele Shambrook from Consumer Direct. “Dealers who fail to treat customers fairly or sell cars that are defective could face enforcement action.”
At Trusted Dealers, we are committed to delivering a first class experience to our used car buying customers. And because our website is owned by the dealers who advertise on it, there is nobody more dedicated to making sure customers receive the best service possible when it comes to buying a second-hand car.
We believe that buying from a Trusted Dealer is by far the most safe and reliable way to buy a used car in the UK. And to prove we mean what we say, we offer all of our customers our unique ten points of different promise.
The ten points of difference provides our customers with added peace of mind when they purchase a car. The list includes vital checks such as theft and write-off, outstanding finance and mileage checks, to ensure that when a customer buys from us, they are not left with the burden of taking on someone else’s debt, or purchasing a stolen vehicle. Other points we guarantee include a full pre-delivery inspection, a minimum MOT with every car, a warranty and a full professional valet.
With a recent OFT study published last year finding that consumers are left out of pocket by an average of £425 due to unresolved faults which they have had to fix themselves following the purchase of a used car, it is more important than ever to make sure you find your next car from the right dealer.
If you’re looking to buy a new or used car, head to the Trusted Dealers website and click on our dealer directory page, to find a dealership in your area.
