Plans for the launch of the digital radio tick mark for products and installers in the vehicle sector are well advanced. Applications for the licence to use the tick mark open on 1 June. Frontier Silicon is the first technology provider to get their technology approved for the tick mark. We would expect to see the tick mark in the market in the 2nd half of 2014. If you have any questions about the tick mark please email email@example.com.
DVLA communications to drivers
Ed Vaizey announced in December that the Government Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) would be working with Digital Radio UK to support digital radio messaging to drivers.
Digital Radio UK has agreed an unprecedented programme of communications with the DVLA. Activity includes posters at MOT centres and messaging on vehicle tax reminder mailings to over 35 million drivers annually.
The DVLA has now started tweeting about converting cars. They have sent out 4 tweets about getting digital radio in cars and these have been re-tweeted by the DVSA. See link to a story in Radio Today here.
The DVLA has also posted an article on the Government website gov.uk about the benefits of digital radio: “Government agencies support drive to keep motorists up to date on their journeys” – see here
