The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) is holding a workshop on the afternoon of 5 November about payment protection insurance (PPI) in Bromsgrove in the West Midlands. It is designed for businesses that sold PPI and may now be receiving complaints from consumers.
The session is designed with smaller businesses in mind. By this, the FOS mean those that sold PPI policies in relatively low numbers, perhaps as a secondary service to their main business activity. Motor retailers are a good example as they often offered PPI cover with car loans they arranged. The key objective is to help these sorts of businesses with their PPI complaint handling. It’s an area they may feel uncomfortable about because it’s not their area of expertise and yet they’re still obliged to respond to customer complaints. We’ll try to fill in the gaps, explain the issues around PPI and how to deal with them appropriately and fairly.
At the previous workshops the FOS have organised, a number of motor retailers attended and found the workshop very useful. For some reason, we’ve received very few bookings for the Bromsgrove event and we’re trying to rally some last minute bookings so it’s viable. There’s no charge to attend.
