MOTsignWe would like to make you aware that earlier this year the Government moved MOT tester training to the private sector.  This resulted in the DVSA (formerly VOSA) ceasing training for new MOT testers or providing refresher training for existing ones.

In its place private training firms will provide training for new testers.  They will also carry out annual refresher courses under the new Continuous Professional Development programme (CPD).  The CPD will require existing testers to undertake three to four hours training annually, either class room based or self-study, as well as requiring testers to take an annual online test.

If you employ testers they will now need to undertake their first online annual test and this requires completion by 31 March 2017.  Failure to do so will mean testers losing their right to test.

For more information on the online training and CPD syllabus, go to:

If you need any further clarification or are interested in MOT training provided by the RMI Academy please call the helpline on 01788 538303.
