New ‘National Minimum Wage’ rates are announced:

The Government have announced the NMW rates which will apply to everyone from 1 October 2014.

  • The adult rate will be £6.50 per hour. This is a 3% rise from the current £6.31.
  • The rate for 16 and 17 year olds will rise to £3.79 per hour from £3.72 (2%)
  • The apprentice rate will rise to £2.73 per hour from £2.68 (2%)

Although the above has yet to be given full parliamentary approval it is highly unlikely that there will be any changes.

Therefore make sure that all your staff who are affected by the minimum rates receive the increase from 1 October.
