Welcome Note from Sue RobinsonBack

Dear colleague,

This week saw the UK trigger Article 50, which officially marked the beginning of the process to leave the EU. It is positive to see that the Government confirmed its commitment to support businesses and give as much clarity and certainty as possible during the negotiations. Going forward, we will be actively engaging with the Government to ensure the retail motor sector is well represented. More details below.

A reminder – new vehicles registered with the DVLA from tomorrow, 1 April 2017, will incur new tax rates. These are illustrated in the V149 document included in today’s news. Also, the new apprenticeship levy comes into effect on Thursday 6 April, to find out more, please consult our guidance document or the Government’s website –

Accountancy firm MacIntyre Hudson (MHA) is conducting its second annual study analysing issues and challenges facing dealerships. The MHA Motor Dealer Survey can be completed on the following link:–

The deadline of 3 April to nominate any suitable colleagues for the Autocar Great British Women Rising Stars is fast approaching – please send your nominations to

Finally, on Thursday 6 April, we will publish the results of the Spring 2017 Consumer Attitude Survey, which explores market opinion and consumers’ perceptions towards franchised dealers in the aftersales sector. Interesting findings and trends will be revealed! A copy of the report will be emailed to all NFDA members.

NFDA represents you. If you need any assistance, clarifications, or if you have any specific issues that you would like us to include in our agenda, please contact the NFDA member helpline on 01788 538303.
