Welcome Note from Sue RobinsonBack

Dear colleague,

Following the success of the NFDA General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) workshop run by NFDA’s retained solicitors, TLT, we will be holding a second seminar on 6 July 2017.  It is extremely important that dealers are aware of the changes in order to be fully compliant with the new regime. See today’s newsletter for further details.

The NFDA has responded to the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee inquiry into the UK electric vehicle market. Although sales of electric cars have been growing significantly, their market share is still very small. In today’s news, we analyse what are the main barriers preventing consumers from buying electric vehicles.

Following the Transport Committee’s ‘Vauxhall Zafira fires’ report, we have outlined to the media that it is imperative when customers receive a recall notice, they immediately return to their main franchised dealer for the recall check to be carried out. The recall issue was also highlighted in the NFDA’s response to the MOT consultation as MOT tests represent one of the most efficient ways to highlight if a car is under recall.

You can still sign the online petition to maintain the current first MOT date for cars at 3 years –https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/190843

Finally, dates and venues for our next round of NFDA regional dealer forum meetings in June can be found in the ‘events’ section below. If you would like to attend, please contact louise.woods@rmif.co.uk.

The NFDA is your trade association – here to represent you.  If you have any issues you wish to raise or need advice and assistance, please call the NFDA dedicated member helpline on 01788 538303
