As you will be aware, the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) introduce new stricter requirements for keeping and using personal data.  To assist members in meeting the challenge of compliance, we have drawn up a questionnaire for you to send to your suppliers, manufacturers, DMS providers, insurers and finance houses, to ask them how they use your data.  We are also holding a workshop on 6 July in Warwick with a further workshop to be held in the Summer.  In addition, we have written to the SMMT to request what steps manufacturers are putting in place to ensure compliance in May 2018 and to ensure there is a co-ordinated industry approach.  If you require more information and to receive the questionnaire with template letter, please email louise.woods@mif.co.uk.

This week, the results of the second MHA MacIntyre Hudson Motor Dealer report showed that there was decline in optimism amongst UK dealers. However, it was encouraging to see that many felt positive about their partners’ plans about crucial areas of the industry such as alternative fuel vehicles and online retailing. Please find more information below and download the full report here: http://bit.ly/2rVIrIf.

Following extensive lobbying, the Queen’s Speech confirmed that current legislation on logbook loans will be replaced with a new Goods Mortgages Act which will ensure more protection for both consumers and businesses. NFDA will be looking closely at the Repeal, Trade, Customs, and Immigration Bills, which are of primary interest for our sector. Please find a more detailed analysis of the Speech in today’s news.

NFDA is your trade association, here to represent you. We want to hear from you: if you need any assistance or have any views on the news, please contact us on our member helpline: 01788 538303
