With 200 attendees, the second NFDA GDPR workshop, which took place this week, proved highly informative and valuable. The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduces stricter requirements for keeping and using personal data. Organisations must be compliant by 25 May 2018, failure to comply will result in harsh fines. We will continue to work with dealers to help them meet the challenge of compliance and we have also been in contact with SMMT and individual manufacturers to ensure that there is a joint industry approach.
A third workshop, presented by NFDA’s solicitors, TLT, will be held on Friday 15 September in Warwick. Please contact email@example.com now if you would like to attend as there is limited availability.
The UK new car market saw a decline of -4.8% in June, year to date the market is now -1.3% down on last year’s record performance. The decrease in diesel registrations shows that there is some confusion surrounding emissions. We will continue to highlight that modern Euro 6 diesel cars should not be compared to older diesel vehicles. Positively, alternative fuel vehicles’ sales grew significantly (+29%). It was encouraging to see the new light commercial market up to 3.5 tonnes recover with a 1.8% increase in June after four months of decline. If you would like to receive a copy of the registration figures, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
You should by now have received your copy of the summer 2017 edition of ‘The Voice’, NFDA’s quarterly magazine. This issue includes interviews with Marshall Motor Group’s CEO Daksh Gupta and Trident Honda Managing Director Richard Roberts, a summary of ‘Life After Brexit’, the discussion paper published by NFDA and International Car Distribution Program (ICDP), and an analysis of the current status of the electric vehicles’ market. Please see more details below.
