Welcome Note From Sue RobinsonBack

Dear colleague,

The UK new car market saw a decline of -9.3% in July, year to date the market is now -2.2% down on last year, but remains in line with forecasts. Given the decline in petrol and diesel registrations, we are calling on the Government to clarify a number of issues for the consumer, particularly surrounding diesel. It is vital that modern Euro 6 diesel cars are not compared to older diesel vehicles. It was positive to see light commercial vehicle registrations grow by 1.1% in July with 24,766 registrations.  The market is now down by just -3.1% year to date after a record breaking year in 2016. If you would like to receive a copy of the registration figures, please email

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduces new stricter requirements for keeping and using personal data. Preparing for compliance will take significant time and resources and it is imperative that organisations have a strategy for compliance in place. Following two very successful workshops on GDPR, a third workshop presented by NFDA’s solicitors, TLT, will take place on Friday 15 September at Warwick. Please contact now if you would like to attend as there is limited availability.

This week we met with Energy Saving Trust (EST) – given the importance of alternative fuel and low emission vehicles, we are looking to run more courses in conjunction with EST. The focus of the courses will be on used electric vehicles and dispelling many of the myths associated with them. If you are interested, please contact
