Welcome Note from Sue RobinsonBack

Dear colleague,

This week, it was positive to see that, following our persistent efforts, HM Treasury acknowledged the impact that debit card charges are having on the retail automotive industry and confirmed that they will review the issue over the coming months. HM Treasury has recognised the importance of our sector and said that the Government is ‘committed to supporting important industries, like the franchised dealers sector’. More details in the news.

The NFDA will be running a new project to drive new talent into the retail motor sector and encourage young people to see the franchised retail sector as a valuable and progressive career, specifically in the area of retail sales. As part of the project, Get My First Job (GMFJ), UK’s leading provider of emerging talent recruitment solutions, will identify suitable applicants from their database of circa 300,000 young people across the UK. Applicants will be directed to relevant local member’s  website and, where available, to specific careers and employment opportunity pages. Please find more details in the news, if you are interested in participating in this new project please contact louisewoods@rmif.co.uk or call 01788 538332.

Recent findings from Auto Trader show that media speculation about diesel has had a negative effect on consumer online searches of diesel models, however diesel remains the most searched fuel type on their website. There is confusion on the issue and NFDA will continue to work with the industry and Government to highlight that Euro 6 should not be confused with older diesel vehicles and that diesel cars are not the only contributors to air pollution.

Due to conflicting dates with other industry events in the autumn, we have moved the NFDA Ball to the spring. The NFDA Spring Ball will take place on SATURDAY 21 APRIL 2018 at The Grove Resort, Hertfordshire. Contact louise.woods@rmif.co.uk to reserve your place.

NFDA is your trade association: we want to hear from you. If you need any assistance, clarifications, or have any views on the news, please contact us on the NFDA member helpline: 01788 538303
