Welcome Note from Sue RobinsonBack

Dear colleague,

This week Ford announced its plans to launch a scrappage scheme which will cover all makes of cars and vans registered before the end of 2009, including all pre Euro 5 vehicles. The NFDA welcomes Fords decision and firmly believes that motorists who previously purchased high emission vehicles must not be penalised by the Clean Air Strategy. Full story and NFDA comment in today’s news.

The NFDA will be running a new project to drive new talent into the retail motor sector, and encourage young people to see the franchised retail sector as a valuable and progressive career, specifically in the area of retail sales. As part of the project, Get My First Job (GMFJ), UK’s leading provider of emerging talent recruitment solutions, will identify suitable applicants from their database of circa 300,000 young people across the UK. Applicants will be directed to relevant local member’s website and, where available, to specific careers and employment opportunity pages. Please find more details in the news, if you are interested in participating in this new project please contact or call 01788 538332.

Also this week, the NFDA’s sister association NAMA, has published its latest data report.  The report shows that auction activity showed signs of improvement in July – strengthening as the month progressed. See below for more information.

The deadline of May 2018 to be compliant with the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) is fast approaching and preparing for it will take significant time and resources. We have already held two very successful workshops on GDPR presented by the NFDA’S retained solicitors TLT. A third workshop will take place on 15 September, with a further one planned on 1 December. A reminder, if you receive any NFDA correspondence to your personal email address, and would like to continue doing so, please let us know in prep for GDPR. More details in today’s news.

Finally, following last year’s success, the NFDA is working again in partnership with AM. Automotive Management Live, taking place on 9 November 2017, is a one day, free to attend event which will see experts from our sector hold a number of seminars to give you insights into the most topical issues affecting the industry. Registrations are now open and you can get your ticket at:

The NFDA is your trade association: we want to hear from you. If you need any assistance, clarifications, or have any views on the news, please contact us on the NFDA member helpline: 01788 538303
