New MOT security cardsBack

Mot12As an MOT testing service user, you will get a brand new security card later this year to replace the current PIN system. The PIN will stop working once you have activated your card.

On 17 October 2016 the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will be sending out new MOT security cards to all users. It will take about 7 weeks for everyone to get their card.

The cards will be sent out in packs to site managers at every vehicle testing station:

  • If you are a site manager and have not got your security card pack by 7 December 2016, you can order one online.
  • If you are an MOT testing service user and have not had your security card by 8 December 2016, contact your site manager.

How the card works

How to get your PIN

The card will work just like online banking security. Every time you press the button on the front of the card you will get a unique 6-digit personalised identification number (PIN).

You will need to enter your user ID and password and then this number each time you log in to the MOT testing service.

This card will make the MOT service more secure by making sure only you can sign into your account.

Activating your card

You must activate your card once you get it. You need to use it every time you sign in to the MOT testing service.  Full instructions will be sent out with the cards.
