nfdaWe are pleased to see that the UK government is committed to develop infrastructure to allow modern transportation to flourish..

The Government has launched a consultation to support the introduction of driverless cars on UK roads. Discussions will be focusing on insurance issues as well as amendments to the highway code.

As the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has recently claimed the autonomous industry could create more than 320,000 jobs and provide a £51billion boost to the economy.

Over half of new vehicles registered in 2015 featured autonomous technologies and fully autonomous vehicles should hit UK roads in less than a decade. Driverless cars are expected to reduce congestion and make transportation safer.

Issues such as product liability and public confidence represent challenges for the sector, however it is encouraging to see that the government, as well as several big companies, are willing to invest in the industry.
