NFDA ENCOURAGED BY MEP MOVE TO SUPPORT DEALER’S REQUESTBack

Frank“It is extremely encouraging that MEPs have voted in favour of Franck Proust’s report on CARS 2020: towards a strong, competitive and sustainable car industry” said Sue Robinson.

The report called for greater transparency and compliance in the relationship between manufacturers and dealers. The report called for the introduction of a code of conduct for manufacturers and dealers specifically around the issues of dealer relocation, multi-branding and compensation entitlement for unjustified termination of the contract by the manufacturer.

Robinson continued “The report reiterates what the NFDA has lobbied for, a fairer commercial relationship between manufacturers and dealers.

“The introduction of a code would be warmly welcomed by dealers across the UK and is a move that the NFDA has lobbied tirelessly for within Europe.

“The NFDA hopes the report will urge Manufacturers to come to an agreement with their dealers to ensure a fairer relationship.”
