Yesterday I attended the Used Car Commission meeting, attendees included consumer and motoring bodies, i.e. Which?, AA, RAC and the CAB, a number of Trading Standards Authority heads, plus industry bodies – NFDA, SMMT/Motor Codes and the IGA. There was recognition that the industry covers an extremely broad arena with differing standards. There was an acknowledgement that the NFDA are now introducing standards for all their franchised dealer members and this will be launched publicly in the coming months. A report to the Minister will be drafted in the next few weeks. However, it will be circulated to all participants prior to despatch. We will keep you updated.
This week also saw the April new car registrations which showed that sales were up 8.2%. It is interesting to see that the fleet market is also showing strong growth in April, suggesting that businesses are also beginning to feel more confident. Commercial vehicles for April showed a decline of 4.2% overall.
In the coming week the NFDA are at our Driving Digital Roadshow in Newbury. If you have not already registered to attend please contact us as there are some very interesting presentations, in particular on the FCA and consumer credit changes which will have an impact on all your businesses.
Finally, NFDA is here to help you. We offer legal advice on all business matters and our financial compliance service is there to support you – just pick up the phone.
