I recently met with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to discuss competition issues that affect dealers. The CMA also shared with us some of their recent research, particularly around competition law challenges faced by the sector and how best to tackle them going forward. They have kindly agreed to speak at our forthcoming NFDA Roadshow on 25 November – I would encourage members to come and listen to what they have to say.
With September a few days away, it will be interesting to see how plate change will affect consumers’ behaviour and if the market will remain strong. September is typically a high volume month for registrations, which this time comes right after the outcome of the EU Referenfum. The new car registration figures will be published next week. If you would like to receive a copy please email email@example.com
As you may be aware, charges levied by card processing firms for Debit Card transactions have changed from 1 September. Flat rate charges have been abolished and replaced with a % of transaction rate similar to credit cards. As this may affect the amount you are paying in transaction fees we urge members to review the rates they are being charged and shop around for the best deal. Also, if you are not aware the NFDA has a service in place for card processing which may be of benefit so please contact us if you would like to know more.
Finally, the results of the NFDA Summer 2016 Dealer Attitude Survey will be published on Monday 5 September. We have had an extremely positive response rate with some very interesting results! If you would like to receive a copy of the results please email firstname.lastname@example.org
