Welcome note from Sue RobinsonBack

Sue RobinsonDear colleague,

The Chancellors’ 2017 Budget will be announced on 8 March and the NFDA submission is currently being prepared – if you have any specific issues you would like included please contact us by 23 January.

This week we held both our NFDA Executive and Aftersales meetings: apprenticeship levy, Consumer Rights Act and NFDA Consumer Attitude Survey were all on the agenda.

  • Cars registered with the DVLA for the first time on or after 1 April 2017 will have new vehicle tax rates. The new tax bands will be based on revised CO2 ranges. While you are probably aware of the changes, there is still confusion surrounding the new tax. Consult our guidance document in today’s news to compare old and new CO2 ranges and tax bands.
  • The British Retail Consortium has announced that retails sales grew by 1.7% in December compared with last year. Interestingly, online sales drove retail in the UK with a growth of 7.2% in the final quarter of the year, while in store sales declined. Please see more details below.

Also, a reminder that our sister organisation the National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA) will be exhibiting at the 2017 Motorcycle Trade Expo from Sunday 15 January at Stoneleigh Park. Visit them at stand B81, grab a cup of coffee and have your questions and concerns answered.

A number of meetings and events are scheduled for the coming months. On Thursday 9 February, Driving Digital 2017 will be taking place at Villa Park, Birmingham. Keynote speakers will provide insights into the digital car buying process and share innovative ideas. Please find more information on www.driving-digital.co.uk or email louise.woods@rmif.co.uk.

NFDA is your trade body. If you need any assistance, information or guidance, pick up the phone and contact us on the NFDA member helpline: 01788 538303.
