This week saw the release of the March new car sales figures which showed a decline of 15.7%. However, NFDA estimates that a decline of 13% in the overall March 2018 market could be attributed to the VED rates introduced in April last year forcing consumers to pull forward their purchases to March 2017. Yearly, the market is still expected to perform in line with initial predictions. Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) registrations decreased -5.6% during the plate-change month, compared to the same period last year. See more details below. It was pleasing to see that PSA announced this week that the Luton plant would benefit from a £170 million investment to bring a new model to the UK and create 450 new jobs. This is positive news for the industry and this new product should see van production at Luton for the next ten years to come.
