The new car registration figures released today showed that April registrations were up 10.4%, although down year to date by -8.8%. We expect the market to continue to recover gradually and meet initial predictions by year end. Light commercial vehicle registrations increased 3.9% compared to the same period last year. Next week, the NFDA’s Brexit Strategy working group will meet to discuss our position on Brexit and we will also be meeting with the Head of Automotive Unit at BEIS (the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) on the subject. Following these meetings the NFDA will be producing a position paper.

Finally, I am pleased to announce that NFDA’s sister association, the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA), held its annual AGM last weekend in Portugal where members raised a phenomenal £14,150 for the automotive industry charity BEN.
