Welcome note from Sue RobinsonBack

SueRobinson2Dear Colleague,

This week’s news contains the long awaited decision on the Lock -v- British Gas – Holiday Pay. A full update is in today’s news – please contact us for further guidance.

Following our recent meeting with the FCA we are writing to them to reaffirm our concerns about their proposed GAP remedies including; the short timeframe for implementation, the potential implementation costs for dealers and the issues around the potential need to propose customers for finance more than once that could trigger additional credit checks.

Also this week I spent time in meetings at both the European Parliament and the European Commission meeting MEPs and officials to highlight the relationship between manufacturers and dealers and impress on them the importance of the dealer, both in employment numbers, investment and consumer relations. One aspect of our MEP discussions which really helped focus their minds was the pure scale of the automotive retail sector and the number of European citizens employed in it. They were all keen to get further information on the level of investment and employment in the retail sector. I also met journalists from the European media, again to highlight the ‘importance of the dealer’. We have also achieved two questions in the European Parliament – see below – responses will be published once received.
