Welcome note from Sue RobinsonBack

SueRobinson2Dear Colleague,

Following our recent meeting with ACEA, the European manufacturers association, which I attended with European Car Dealers, we have subsequently received a letter from the European Commission which has assured us they consider dialogue with ACEA of high importance and they support any efforts that could help find a workable solution to the discussed issues:

  • Transferring a sales contract to another member of the authorised network
  • Compensation in case of contract termination
  • Sale of different brands under the same roof – multi-branding

We are expecting to hear from ACEA in the coming months following their discussions with their manufacturers on the above.

We have received a number of queries from members recently regarding the Money Laundering Regulations. We have included a guidance note for members in this week’s NFDA news which outlines the legislation and what the requirements are for dealers. If you need further assistance or clarification please contact

We will be holding a roadshow for members to outline the Consumer Rights Act and to give practical and operational guidance to members. The roadshow will be held on Friday 11 September at the Hilton Hotel in Warwick. Full details will follow but if you have any queries please contact

It is vitally important for members that you are aware of the new Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) requirements. We are again featuring an FAQ guidance document in this week’s news – if you require further clarification please call the NFDA helpline on 01788 538303.
