Last week the NFDA held a Consumer Rights Act workshop ahead of the new act coming into force on 1 October. The workshop was attended by over 200 delegates, and received positive feedback from all attendees. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) was also on the agenda for the days discussions, and is being encouraged by the Government as a cost effective way of dealing with consumer disputes that cannot be resolved between the dealer and the consumer. Just a reminder that NFDA members can use the National Conciliation Service (NCS) for conciliation and mediation cases. For any advice on this new legislation, please contact the NFDA helpline on 01788 538303.
Following last week’s news that the NFDA is calling for the government to do more to tackle the issue of odometer fraud, and encourage the outlawing of mileage adjustment companies in the UK, Baroness Hayter who has now been appointed to the labour shadow team for Department of Business Innovation and Skill, has tabled questions for us to be responded to by the government, looking at their current position and plans on odometer adjustment fraud.
Finally, this week we heard the sad news of the death of Ken Martindale, former chairman of Lookers. Ken was also a past president of the RMI and one of the earliest chairman’s of the NFDA. A well respected figure in the industry, we send our condolences to his family and friends.
