This week saw the Autumn 2017 Budget. The Chancellor announced that new diesel cars first registered from 1 April 2018 will incur a Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) supplement so that their First-Year Rate will go up by one band. We have highlighted to Government that the higher tax will affect many motorists looking to purchase Euro 6 diesel cars as these represent the most efficient vehicles for them.
Encouragingly, the Government confirmed its continued commitment to supporting the uptake of electric cars with further funds and tax incentives for drivers. Also, it was positive to see that the Treasury took on board our recommendations and the rise in fuel duty which was planned for April was cancelled. Please see more details below.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a major issue and it is vital that businesses get the correct guidance and information.
We are holding two additional workshops looking at the more specific issue of contract remediation, a crucial element for GDPR compliance for franchised dealers. The workshops will focus on how to review third-party contracts, including those with manufacturers, finance houses and dealer management systems. The workshops are run again by NFDA TLT solicitors and on Thursday 1 February and Friday 9 March at the Warwick Hilton. If you would like to attend please email email@example.com .
Finally, the NFDA Spring Ball will be taking place on Saturday 21 April 2018 at the Grove Resort, Hertfordshire. It promises to be an evening of fun, unique networking opportunities, good food and fine wine. Our compere for the evening will be TV presenter Mark Durden-Smith.
