New Car Market
This week saw the new car market decline by -11.2% in November to 163,541 units. Year to date, new passenger car registrations are -5.0% lower than last year. Sales of alternative fuel vehicles rose substantially by 33.1%, while diesel decreased by -30.1%. We highlighted to government that the recent increase in first registration tax of new diesel vehicles will affect the cleanest Euro 6 diesel cars. This sends the wrong message to many motorists that they should not buy a new diesel, but rather stay in their old car or buy a second hand, dirtier vehicle. If you would like to receive a copy of the registration figures, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
