Welcome note from Sue RobinsonBack

Dear colleague,

Following NFDA’s determined lobbying efforts, government announced that the first MoT testing will remain at three years.  We had previously highlighted the road safety implications which extending the date of the first MoT from three to four years would have had and it is extremely positive to see that the government has acknowledged this.

NFDA obtained figures from ICDP which show that averages for the number of car dealerships visited as well as the total number of dealer visits per customer were higher in 2017 than they had been over the previous five years. We highlighted to the press that although a strong online presence is essential in today’s marketplace, showrooms continue to play a key role. These findings contradict a report released this week from KPMG on the future of the dealer market.

This week we held the NFDA HR Working Group. It was encouraging to see that the industry is coming together to solve HR issues facing our sector such as recruiting and attendees were very supportive of our latest project, Drive My Career.  Drive My Career is the NFDA initiative which will promote the wide range of job opportunities available within the retail automotive industry. DriveMyCareer.co.uk will be launched in late January/early February. Please read this week’s news for more information and contact louise.woods@rmif.co.uk to join this project.

As you may be aware new car labels are in the process of being reviewed. NFDA has been asked to assist in researching the potential cost impact that any change could have on dealers. We have a tight timeframe to deliver this work and we would appreciate your assistance. If you would like to participate, please contact thomas.mclennan@rmif.co.uk

A number of events and workshops will be taking place over the next few months. Driving Digital will be held on Thursday 8 February and a further NFDA workshop on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be held on Friday 9 March. Also, the NFDA Spring Ball is back on Saturday 21 April 2018 at the stunning Grove Resort in Hertfordshire. If you would like to attend any of these, please contact louise.woods@rmif.co.uk or ring 01788 538 332.

NFDA is your trade association and we want to hear from you: if you need any help or require any legal assistance, please ring our member helpline on 01788 538 303.
