After a short break, Brussels beckoned again this week with a full programme of meetings with MEPs from the UK, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland from across all political parties, and also with ACEA, the European manufacturers trade body. The main topic of discussion was Brexit but also importantly again to highlight the importance of the retail motor sector in terms of employment, turnover and apprenticeships. Also outlining the manufacturer/dealer relationships and the many regulations that the industry has to comply with in the course of their business. A full report of these meetings is in this week’s news.
As part of our ongoing Parliamentary engagement programme we recently arranged for Nick Boles MP to visit NFDA member Donalds Mazda in Stamford. The aim of the scheme is to encourage Parliamentary engagement, raise awareness of the significant contribution that the retail automotive industry makes to the economy of the UK as well as raise any specific issues facing the retail automotive industry. Full story in this week’s news.
