My daughter’s going to university – what type of car should I buy for her?Back

A cheap to tax, cheap to insure, small car with a good NCAP rating has to be the order of the day here. The Audi A1 and Chevrolet Aveo are at opposite ends of the spectrum in price, but both have 5 star ratings.

Or for something mid-market but fashionable what about a Fiat 500 or Ford Fiesta? They also got 5 star NCAP ratings on their launch.

I don’t know what your budget is but there are Aveos from 2009 for under £5,000 around and mileage-delivery only cars available from £10,500. A1s from 2009 start at just £12,900.
