The Kuga is a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) manufactured by Ford and on sale since 2008. The Kuga is based on the Ford C1 platform, which is also shared by the Focus and C-Max models. As of 2012 the Kuga is in its second generation, with a 2016 facelift giving it a more distinctive look. The Kuga has strayed more towards the stylings of an SUV compared to its crossover competitors, in turn offering more four-wheel drive models across the range. In size the Kuga lies between the Fiesta and Edge, and directly takes on rivals such as the Nissan Qashqai, Mazda CX-5 and the Honda CR-V.

There has been a wide range of engines on offer over the lifecycle of the Ford Kuga, with additions being made in both 2014 and 2016. There are currently a variety of 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines, and 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre diesel engines, available in different power outputs. Most buyers opt for the 148bhp or 178bhp 2.0-litre diesel models, as they offer a good balance between efficiency and power and give a smooth performance. Some models feature four-wheel-drive, while torque vectoring is featured in all Kuga models, making for better grip and enhanced handling.

Original trim levels of the Kuga comprise the Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X, with 2013 adding the Titanium X Sport trim. Titanium X was superseded with ST-Line and Vignale trims after the 2016 facelift. The entry-level Zetec trim comes well-equipped as standard, and includes 17-inch alloy wheels, Ford's Sync multimedia system, electric windows, keyless ignition and air-conditioning. Several optional packs add further scope to personalise and tailor the Kuga's equipment. The boot has a competitive 456-litre boot capacity, and plenty of standard safety equipment has ensured the Kuga holds a maximum five-star Euro NCAP crash rating.

The Ford Kuga displays surprising agility on the road despite its large frame, and makes for a spacious and reliable family SUV.
