The Vauxhall Mokka is a five-door mini SUV produced since 2012 with sales starting in late 2013. The compact crossover segment is highly competitive and rapidly expanding, and the Mokka has strong competition from the likes of the Nissan Juke and Skoda Yeti. However, with its two- and four-wheel drive options and a range of diesel and petrol engines available, the Mokka has several factors in its favour and remains an excellent contender on the market. The higher position on the road and a generous kit list makes the Mokka a popular choice for many.

The Mokka is available in a choice of three engines: a 115 PS 1.6-litre petrol, a 140 PS 1.4-litre turbo petrol and a 130 PS 1.7-litre turbodiesel. Power is delivered over a wide range of revs, making it comfortable to drive on both city and country roads. All engines are four-cylinder units and produce between 113 and 138bhp, and four-wheel drive is available for the 1.4-litre petrol and 1.7-litre turbodiesel models. Steering is light and consistent and the engines are competitively efficient with relatively low emissions.

There are three trim levels available, and standard equipment is generous; every model comes with dual-zone climate control, USB connectivity, digital radio, cruise control and front and rear parking sensors. Upgrades are also sensibly priced. On top of this, legroom and headroom is better in the Mokka compared to its rivals, and a family will fit comfortably. The boot is well proportioned with a capacity of 356-litres, with the option to extend this by flipping the rear seats forwards. The Mokka received a maximum five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating in 2012, with particularly impressive scores for adult occupant and child occupant protection: 96% and 90% respectively.

The Mokka provides family practicality, and is a reliable option in the mini SUV market.
