The Vivaro is the UK-badged version of the Renault Trafic, produced by Vauxhall Motors primarily at the Luton headquarters since 2001. The Vivaro competes alongside some remarkably popular models in the most hotly contested van segment, which includes models like the Volkswagen Transporter, Ford Transit Custom, Peugeot Expert and Citroen Dispatch. That being said the Vivaro has a very strong following and offers class-leading levels of refinement and practicality. In fact, the first generation Vivaro sold just shy of a million units in its 12-year production span. The current second generation model debuted in 2014 and combines fantastic levels of equipment, appealing design and superb functionality.

The latest technology is employed across the efficient range of engines, all of which are based around a 1.6-litre diesel unit. The CDTi single turbo is available in 89bhp and 113bhp states of tune, while the advanced CDTi BiTurbo is offered with a choice of 118bhp or 138bhp. The latter pair of engines use sequential turbocharging and a twin-cooler system to deliver impressive fuel economy and offer the strongest performance for those regularly carrying a heavy load. Being British made, the Vivaro is particularly well-suited to UK roads and offers a smooth and refined performance, while also scoring highly in terms of ride comfort.

There are two wheelbases and two roof heights to choose from in the Vivaro, allowing for load volumes ranging from 5.2m3 to 8.6m3. Load lengths range between 2,537mm and 2,937mm, easily accessible via asymmetrical rear doors and a sliding side door. Combi minibus and double cab crew configurations of the Vivaro also cater for those requiring the capacity to carry people as well as cargo. Vauxhall have equipped the Vivaro with generous levels of equipment as standard across the range, with the well-built cabin offering a whole host of infotainment options.

The Vauxhall Vivaro is hugely versatile and reliable, featuring state-of-the-art technologies and a range of strong performing engines. It is well-deserving of its popularity, and is an excellent choice despite facing tough competition.
