DVLA respond to concerns over cherished number plate transfersBack

NumberplateIn the last few weeks we have received several reports of undue delay regarding recent processing of Personalised Registration (PR) transactions. We have had many conversations with the DVLA and today we have received this official response.

As of today (1 August), Cherished Transfer applications are being processed within 8 working days from the date of receipt at DVLA and Assignments are being processed within 11 working days. Other areas of the business, where there is capacity, are providing support in reducing the backlog. You should note that there is no over-the-counter service and commercial customers sending PR applications should continue to send them to DVLA Swansea SA99 1DP (please ensure that only PR applications are sent to this address to avoid delays).

It remains our intention to address this situation and return to processing PR applications within the 7 working day service level target. The programme of recruitment and training at DVLA continues. If you are still awaiting a response to your application, please take note of the current turnaround times before contacting DVLA for information about your application(s). Remember you can go to www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla to check whether your vehicle details have been changed online.

We plan to continue providing these bulletins to keep you appraised of the situation will we resolve this issue. Once again we apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience at this time.
