FranchisedThe number of franchised dealer sales outlets dropped by 137 in 2012. This marked a 2.8% year on year fall from 4856 in 2011 to 4,719 in 2012.

Although the sector has been contracting since the 1990s the rate of decline has slowed in recent years, according to figures collated by the NFDA.
